Building Envelope
  • Implement building envelope efficiency measures targeting insulation, window treatments, leaks, and any other environmental concerns.
  • Walls
    - Additional insulation should be added to exterior walls when possible to minimize heat gain from the outdoor environment.
    - Add caulking or weather-stripping sealants to areas of infiltration (for example, in cracks or gaps of the exterior wall) to ensure no unnecessary     outside heat can enter the premises.
  • Windows
    - Replace current blinds/inefficient curtains with reflective window shades to minimize heat gain through windows.
  • Window Treatments
    - Replace old window frames with non-metal insulating window frames to reduce heat entry.
    - Replace single-pane glass with double- or triple-pane insulated glass.
    - Use tinted glass/coatings where possible.
  • Exterior Doors
    - Install revolving doors instead of standard swinging doors to reduce heat infiltration and A/C losses from the building.
  • Leaks
    - Ensure there are no leaks from faulty weather stripping or installation. Fix leaks immediately.
  • Roofs
    - Apply reflective materials (such as white stone or light-colored reflective coating) to the roof areas.
